One Egg Hatched, One to go!

Looks like our wait is finally bearing fruit. On 26th April just before leaving for office I discovered that one of the eggs has hatched, revealing a dirty yellow colored chick. In fact it appears to be so weak, her chirpings are hardly audible. The temperature was a lot better for a Gurgaon Summer, with a slight drizzle being forecast by the weather department. Also with a little dust storm brewing around here, it was a pleasant sight seeing the little kiddo snuggling up to its mom. The mother pigeon, by the way, dutifully continues to sit awaiting the second egg to hatch.

Trust a woman to think of showing compassion when it matters most. Vijayeta was considerate enough to place adequate quantity of drinking water for the birds. Unfortunately there were no worms around which could help us arrange a quick breakfast for the li'l one :)

It's 01 may today, and the second egg hasn't hatched till date. Now I'm beginning to have my doubts if there is an issue. Watch this space, will keep you posted on any new development.

Li'l birdie makes herself comfy at our balcony

She's been here for a little more than couple of weeks now. At first, both I and Vijayeta thought she was taking shelter from the summer heat. However she would always be there everytime we checked... that's when the realization struck - the cute little pigeon was raising a family in our kitchen balcony. Sure enough, we spotted the hastily arranged urban excuse of a nest and the two little eggs. See for yourself!
